How much difference is there really between suited connectors and unsuited connectors. Like every other serious poker question the right answer is “It depends.” One of the things it depends on is the range of hands you’re up against. For example, the difference in win percentage between AKs and AKo is only about 2% if all the money goes in before the flop (so that all 5 board cards are run out). Two percent isn’t much, but if you’re up against a player who is playing his top 6% of starting hands (which would be 88 or better, ATs or better, KQs, or AKo) then that two percent difference in win percentage is the difference between your AKs being a favorite and your AKo not being favored. Two percent doesn’t seem like much at all, but depending on the circumstances it can make a lot of difference. Btw, for smaller cards being suited counts for more than 2%, for 86 being suited counts for about a 4% difference.
